There is no central application system: you apply to each institution directly. Programmes usually start: September.

The essentials

Application system: None — apply to each institution on its own website.
When programmes start: September.
International applicants: Holders of international qualifications apply directly to each university (non-JUPAS); JUPAS is the central system for students taking the HKDSE.
Language: IELTS, TOEFL or similar if your schooling wasn't in English, at the score each university sets.

Each university sets its own dates; the ones above are HKU's. HKU releases first-round results from December 2026.

Your checklist

The usual steps for an international student applying to a bachelor's in Hong Kong, in order. Tick them off as you go — your ticks stay in this browser, with no account.

1.Choose universities and programmes, using Study in Hong Kong's institution list.
2.Check each university's entry requirements for your qualification and its English requirement.
3.Apply online to each university directly — early, as first-round deadlines come in the autumn.
4.Ask your school to submit predicted grades and references by the university's date.
5.Attend an interview if you are shortlisted.
6.Accept your offer within the time given and pay the deposit.
7.Apply for a student visa through the Immigration Department, with the university as sponsor — allow two months or more.
8.Arrange housing — ask about university halls when you accept your offer.
