Government scholarships for international students
Scholarships that a government — or a group of governments — pays for so that students from other countries can study there. Tell us where you're from and we'll hide the ones that clearly aren't open to you; each card says who can apply, what it pays for and when applications open, and links to the official page.
Before you rely on this list. We list government-funded scholarships only — not universities' own awards, private foundations or loans — and we don't handle applications or pass anything on: you apply to the sponsor directly. Rules, country lists and dates change every year, so always check the official page before you apply. Each card shows the date we last checked it.

How this list is made
- Every scholarship here is funded by a government or an intergovernmental body, for students from abroad. Each one was read from the sponsor's own website, or the body it names to run the scheme — never from scholarship portals or blogs — and is described in our own words.
- "Who can apply" is matched to the country you pick only where the official rule is clear: open to everyone, open to everyone except some countries, or a fixed list we read in full. Where the list is long, changes every year or is decided by each embassy, the card says "check eligibility" instead of guessing.
- A deadline is shown only where the official page publishes one for the coming round (10 of 51 at the last check); otherwise the card gives the months applications usually open. Where a scheme has been cut back, renamed or narrowed, the card says so.
- Every entry is re-checked at least once a year. A scheme that has closed is taken off, not left to go stale.
Still choosing a country? Try Where should I study? or compare what each country publishes in Study abroad.
