There is no central application system: you apply to each institution directly. Programmes usually start: Around March.

When programmes start: Around March.
International applicants: International students apply to each university directly; the national university also reserves places for citizens of countries with a cultural agreement, selected through Paraguay's foreign ministry.
Language: Spanish.

Key dates

Each university publishes its own admission calls. At the Universidad Nacional de Asunción, places for students under cultural agreements are announced to the foreign ministry in November and the selected list is sent in February.

Your checklist

The usual steps for an international student applying to a bachelor's in Paraguay, in order. Tick them off as you go — your ticks stay in this browser, with no account.

1.Choose a university and read its admission requirements.
2.Have your foreign secondary studies recognised by the Ministry of Education and Science (MEC).
3.Apostille or consular-legalise your documents, with translations where needed.
4.If your country has a cultural agreement with Paraguay, ask Paraguay's foreign ministry about reserved places; otherwise apply to the university directly.
5.Pass the admission exam or course the faculty sets.
6.Enrol and arrange temporary residence with Migraciones.
