🇷🇸 How to apply to university in Serbia

There is no central application system: you apply to each institution directly. Programmes usually start: September/October.

The essentials

Application system: None — apply to each institution on its own website.
When programmes start: September/October.
International applicants: International students apply directly to the faculty and take its entrance exam, after having their diploma recognised.
Language: Serbian for Serbian-taught programmes; English for English-taught ones, at the level the faculty sets.

Key dates

Each faculty publishes its own call for enrolment, usually in spring. Entrance exams are held in summer — Study in Serbia gives June in one place and early July (second round early September) in another — and nothing is published yet for 2027.

Your checklist

The usual steps for an international student applying to a bachelor's in Serbia, in order. Tick them off as you go — your ticks stay in this browser, with no account.

1.Find a programme in the Study in Serbia catalogue (180+ are taught in English).
2.Have your secondary diploma recognised by the ENIC/NARIC centre of the Qualifications Agency (allow up to 60 days).
3.Apply to the faculty with the application form, passport copy, transcripts and proof that you paid its application fee.
4.Sit and pass the entrance exam.
5.Enrol and pay tuition.
6.Apply for a Type D visa at a Serbian embassy or consulate, unless your nationality enters visa-free.
7.After arriving, apply for a temporary residence permit and register your address with the police.
