Checked on 20 October 2026 against the official sources listed below.

The essentials

When programmes start: August (start of the academic year).
International applicants: International students apply directly to each university, on the same online application as everyone else; deadlines differ by the qualification you hold.
Language: IELTS, TOEFL or another test the university accepts (NTU asks for IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL iBT 90) when your schooling wasn't in English or your qualification requires it.

Your checklist

The usual steps for an international student applying to a bachelor's in Singapore, in order. Tick them off as you go — your ticks stay in this browser, with no account.

1.Choose universities and programmes — NUS, NTU, SMU, SUTD, SIT and SUSS each run their own admissions.
2.Check which application group your school-leaving qualification falls in, since that sets your deadline.
3.Take an English test (IELTS, TOEFL or another the university accepts) if your qualification or schooling requires it, so the result arrives before the deadline.
4.Apply online to each university, pay its application fee and upload your documents.
5.Attend any interview or test the programme asks for.
6.Accept your offer within the university's acceptance window.
7.Apply for a Student's Pass with the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) once you have accepted.
8.Arrange housing — apply for a hall place early or look for private rentals.
