There is no central application system: you apply to each institution directly. Programmes usually start: March, after enrolment in February (Udelar); some degrees also admit mid-year.

International applicants: Students who finished school abroad enrol at Udelar directly, in the same February period, through its migrant route; private universities run their own admissions.

Udelar says enrolment for 2027 takes place in February 2027; each faculty publishes the exact days nearer the time.

Your checklist

The usual steps for an international student applying to a bachelor's in Uruguay, in order. Tick them off as you go — your ticks stay in this browser, with no account.

1.Choose a degree at Udelar (free for everyone) or a private university.
2.Legalise or apostille your finished secondary certificate — or have your secondary studies revalidated through ANEP.
3.Register in Udelar's enrolment period (February) and follow the online step-by-step.
4.Hand in your foreign secondary documents to the faculty's student office (bedelía); it has up to 40 working days to decide.
5.Sort out your residence in Uruguay — Udelar's migrant route is for people living in the country.
6.Start classes in March.
