The essentials

Application system: eVŠ application portalThe national online application for bachelor's study under each university's call for enrolment. Non-EU citizens apply for the places set aside for foreigners.
When programmes start: October.
International applicants: International applicants use the same eVŠ portal; non-EU citizens apply for the places reserved for foreigners, and recognition of their certificate is decided by the institution during admission.
Language: Slovene (often B2) for Slovene-taught programmes where the call requires it; English at the level the call states for English-taught ones.

Key dates

The calls for enrolment for 2027/28 aren't published yet; for bachelor's study they come out by early February at the latest. In 2026/27 the University of Ljubljana's first round for non-EU citizens ran from 18 February to 18 March 2026.

Your checklist

The usual steps for an international student applying to a bachelor's in Slovenia, in order. Tick them off as you go — your ticks stay in this browser, with no account.

1.Read the call for enrolment and the programme's entry requirements.
2.Apply on the eVŠ portal in the first round (usually February–March), choosing places for foreigners if you're not an EU citizen.
3.Upload scans of your certificates; the institution decides on recognition of your foreign education as part of admission.
4.Pass any interview, aptitude test or Slovene exam the call requires.
5.Check your results and enrol when the institution invites you.
6.Apply for a residence permit at a Slovenian embassy or administrative unit, with proof of admission, insurance, funds and housing — it can take weeks or months.
7.Arrange housing.
