🇺🇦 How to apply to university in Ukraine

Applications go through Study in Ukraine online application portal. Programmes usually start: Autumn and spring; each university sets its own enrolment dates.

The essentials

Application system: Study in Ukraine online application portalRun by the Ukrainian State Center for International Education: one account and one fee, then up to 20 applications to universities, which assess them and issue the offer and invitation.
When programmes start: Autumn and spring; each university sets its own enrolment dates.
International applicants: International applicants go through the national Study in Ukraine portal, then receive the offer and invitation from the university and apply for a Type D visa.
Language: Proof of the language of instruction is set by each university; many programmes are taught in English.

Key dates

The portal says enrolment for foreigners closes by 1 November (autumn) and 1 March (spring) but prints no year, and each university publishes its own deadlines. The national admission rules for 2027 weren't available when we checked.

Your checklist

The usual steps for an international student applying to a bachelor's in Ukraine, in order. Tick them off as you go — your ticks stay in this browser, with no account.

1.Choose programmes on the Study in Ukraine portal (500+ are taught in English).
2.Register an account, fill in the form and pay the one-off 3,100 UAH application fee.
3.Send up to 20 applications; each university reviews yours and may send a digital offer of admission.
4.Accept an offer; the university checks your documents and issues an Invitation for Study (valid 6 months).
5.Have your school documents legalised and translated into Ukrainian (or English).
6.Apply for a Type D student visa at a Ukrainian embassy or consulate with the invitation.
7.Enter your border-crossing details in your account before travelling.
8.After arriving, apply for a temporary residence permit if you're staying longer than 90 days.
