🇬🇪 How to apply to university in Georgia

There is no central application system: you apply to each institution directly. Programmes usually start: September (main).

Checked on 23 October 2026 against the official sources listed below.

The essentials

Application system: None — apply to each institution on its own website.
When programmes start: September (main).
International applicants: Foreign citizens are admitted without Georgia's Unified National Examinations: as Tbilisi State University describes it, they apply to the university, which issues a consent letter; NCEQE recognises the school certificate and the Ministry issues the enrolment order. The government changed these rules in September 2026 and we could not read the official text, so confirm the current procedure with the university.
Language: English-taught programmes ask for an English proficiency certificate; Georgian-taught programmes need Georgian.

Key dates

We found no official national dates for foreign applicants. The government changed the rules for admitting foreign citizens in September 2026 (reported enrolment windows and a language certificate from 2027/28), but we could not read the official text — confirm the current procedure and dates with the university before applying, and leave time for NCEQE's recognition of your school certificate and the Ministry's enrolment order.

The dates for the next intake haven't been published yet. We add them once the official source does.
