πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬ 2 of 5 polytechnics Β· 80 diploma courses

Polytechnic cut-off points, course by course.

The range of O-level aggregates admitted to each diploma course at Nanyang Polytechnic and Ngee Ann Polytechnic, with the planned intake and earlier years β€” from the open data the two polytechnics publish themselves.

Read this first: the scale runs backwards

Lower is better. An ELR2B2 aggregate adds up O-level grades, where A1 counts 1 and a pass at C6 counts 6, so a smaller total is a stronger result. In a range such as 4–11, 4 is the strongest student admitted and 11 the weakest.

ELR2B2 is English Language, two relevant subjects and the two best other subjects. Which subjects count as relevant depends on the course's aggregate type β€” A, B, C or D β€” so the same student has a different aggregate for each type, and an aggregate of one type says nothing about a course that uses another.

Only two of the five polytechnics are here

Singapore Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic and Republic Polytechnic publish no cut-offs as open data: their data.gov.sg datasets list courses and enrolment, not entry aggregates (catalogue searched 1 October 2026). Whatever they publish on their own websites, or the Ministry of Education publishes in its course finder, is not open data and is not reproduced here. A course missing from this page is not a course without a cut-off.

The year is the one each dataset labels its rows with β€” academic year 2026 for Nanyang (file last updated 10 March 2026) and 2025 for Ngee Ann (published 4 March 2026; it has issued no 2026 file). Neither dataset states which O-level sitting the figures come from. Cut-offs move every year with the applicants, so a past range is a guide and not a threshold.

Nanyang Polytechnic, 2026

39 courses

Planned intake 3,981 across them. Figures for 12 years, 2014–2026.

Ngee Ann Polytechnic, 2025

41 courses

Planned intake 4,251 across them. Figures for 8 years, 2017–2025.

No open cut-offs

Nanyang Polytechnic β€” cut-off ranges, 2026

Nanyang Polytechnic's dataset defines its figure as the net aggregate, after deducting CCA bonus points, of the lowest and highest aggregate admitted through the Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE). For 2014 to 2018 it published one figure β€” the lowest-ranked student admitted β€” and from 2019 the range. It does not say which ELR2B2 aggregate type (A, B, C or D) each course uses.

2022 is left out of the earlier years: in the dataset, all 40 courses offered in both years carry exactly the 2021 range again, which reads as a year carried forward rather than a result.

Cut-off range: lowest (strongest) to highest (weakest) net aggregate, 2026. Lower is better. Planned intake is the number of places each polytechnic planned for the course in that year, as published; neither dataset defines it further or says how many of those places are filled through the JAE rather than other admission routes.

Ngee Ann Polytechnic β€” cut-off ranges, 2025

Ngee Ann Polytechnic's dataset gives each course's ELR2B2 aggregate type, a range and a planned intake, but no definition: its description only repeats the title, β€œPlanned Intake and Cut-off Points”. We show the range as published. That it is the range of net aggregates admitted through the JAE, as Nanyang's is, is the natural reading but is not stated in the open data.

Cut-off range: lowest (strongest) to highest (weakest) net aggregate, 2025. Lower is better. Planned intake is the number of places each polytechnic planned for the course in that year, as published; neither dataset defines it further or says how many of those places are filled through the JAE rather than other admission routes.

Why there is no matcher here

We don't sort these courses into bands against your own aggregate. An aggregate is only comparable with a course's cut-off if both use the same ELR2B2 type, and Nanyang's dataset does not give the type; Ngee Ann's gives the type but does not define its range. Check the type for a course in the JAE information booklet, work out your net aggregate for that type, and read it against the range yourself.

Nanyang's range covers students admitted through the Joint Admissions Exercise only β€” its dataset says so. Places filled through other admission routes are not in it, and a range says nothing about how many students sat at each end of it.

Contains information from "Nanyang Polytechnic GCE 'O' Level Aggregate Cut-Off-Points by Course, 2014 - 2026" and "Nanyang Polytechnic Planned Intake, Annual, 2016 to 2026" (Nanyang Polytechnic), and from "Planned Intake and Cut-off Points" for 2017 and 2019 to 2025 (Ngee Ann Polytechnic), accessed on 1 October 2026 from data.gov.sg, which is made available under the terms of the Singapore Open Data Licence version 1.0 (https://data.gov.sg/open-data-licence). Course names have been put in title case and the yearly files joined on course code by CollegeMatcher; the figures are unchanged.
