Denmark has eight universities. They're moving in opposite directions.
Since 2011, IT-Universitetet has grown by half and DTU by more than a third, while Copenhagen and Aarhus have both shrunk. Statistics Denmark counts students, entrants and completions at each one, and has done for twenty years.

Two sources, two scopes
Enrolment, universities only.The student, entrant and completion counts on this page are Statistics Denmark's, which publishes them per institution for the eight universities alone: its companion table still lists the CVUs abolished in 2008, and the short and medium-cycle tables have no institution dimension. So professionshøjskoler (university colleges) and erhvervsakademier have no enrolment figures here.
Entry cut-offs, 31 institutions. The matcher uses the 2026 figures of the coordinated admission (KOT), which cover the universities, university colleges, business academies and the maritime, architecture and design schools that admit through it.
