Visa requirements

EU/EEA and Swiss citizens who move to Liechtenstein for their studies must obtain a short-term residence permit.

Students may also choose to live in neighbouring Switzerland or Austria. In that case, the residence and administrative requirements of that country apply.

Students from most non-EU/EEA countries need a visa to enter Liechtenstein.

The University of Liechtenstein provides a guarantee in the form of a bank bond. Students must therefore pay a CHF 3,000 deposit to the university. The deposit serves as security and is refunded only after completion of the degree programme.

Students should contact the university’s Coordination Office for Residence Permits for information about current regulations and the application procedure. All students living in Liechtenstein must register with the relevant municipal authority within 14 days of arrival.
