Korea prices a degree by what you study.

Every Korean university discloses its tuition broken down by field, the share of its graduates in work, and how many people applied per place. Cost, outcomes and competition — published for all of them, by law.

National universities

₩3.87m

median tuition a year. The state sector is roughly half the price of the private one.

Private universities

₩6.97m

median a year — and where four out of five students actually study.

Competition

5.6:1

applicants per place at the median campus institution. The most contested reaches 37:1.

Not published

수능

entrance scores are not disclosed per university. We show how contested a place is, not the marks you need.

Why there is no “score you need” here

Korea runs one of the most measured admissions systems anywhere, and almost none of the measuring is public per institution. 수능 results are released to students, not as a per-university distribution, and no open licence covers them. So the honest selectivity signal is 신입생 경쟁률 — applicants per place — which tells you how contested a university is without pretending to tell you whether you would get in. Sites that quote a required score for a Korean university are estimating from private data.

Hardest places to get
