South Sudan has five public universities — Juba, Bahr El-Ghazal, Upper Nile, Rumbek and John Garang Memorial — and a growing number of private universities, most in Juba. This directory lists 27 from Wikidata.
Not an official list
This list comes from Wikidata, a community-maintained database (retrieved 2026-10-23) — not from the country's regulator. It may include institutions that have closed, merged or been renamed, or that have lost or never had official recognition, and it may miss others. We leave out entries Wikidata marks as dissolved or closed, but that filter is only as up to date as Wikidata. Only institutions whose name calls them a university are listed, so recognised colleges and degree-awarding institutes are missing. Being listed here is not proof of accreditation.

South Sudan's Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology names the public universities on its website and runs an accreditation department for private ones, but publishes no list we could republish, so this page is built from Wikidata.
