🇰🇬 How to apply to university in Kyrgyzstan

Applications go through ORT (testing.kg) and Абитуриент Online (Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovation). Programmes usually start: September.

Checked on 23 October 2026 against the official sources listed below.

The essentials

Application system: ORT (testing.kg) and Абитуриент Online (Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovation)Applicants with an ORT certificate apply online to any university and specialty; places are filled in tours from mid-July. The ORT itself is run by the Center for Educational Assessment and Teaching Methods (testing.kg).
When programmes start: September
International applicants: Foreign citizens apply to each university directly and may take its own entrance tests instead of the ORT; their admission can run until 15 October. They study on contract (fee-paying) places unless an international agreement provides a grant.
Language: Kyrgyz or Russian for most programmes; some universities teach in English and set their own requirements.

Key dates

The testing centre has not yet published the dates of the 2027 ORT. Under the government's admission rules, universities hold their entrance tests between 10 July and 20 August and enrol contract students by 25 August; for foreign citizens both can be extended to 15 October.

The dates for the next intake haven't been published yet. We add them once the official source does.

Your checklist

The usual steps for an international student applying to a bachelor's in Kyrgyzstan, in order. Tick them off as you go — your ticks stay in this browser, with no account.

1.Decide your route: the national test (ORT) and Абитуриент Online, or — as a foreign citizen — the university's own entrance tests.
2.Choose universities and specialties; the Kyrgyzstan pages show the mean ORT score of the students each specialty admitted in 2025, on grant and contract places.
3.If you take the ORT, register with the testing centre when registration opens, and sit the subject tests your specialty asks for.
4.Prepare your school-leaving certificate; foreign citizens need the Ministry's certificate that it is equivalent to Kyrgyz secondary education before they can be enrolled.
5.Apply to the university's admission committee (or on Абитуриент Online with your ORT certificate) and confirm your place within the deadline.
6.Pay the contract (tuition) fee the university sets if you are admitted to a fee-paying place.
7.Apply for a study visa where you need one; the university can support a temporary residence permit for study.
