This is MINESUP's 2022 directory (the PDF was produced in January 2023). Institutions may have opened, closed, moved or changed their programmes since; the ministry's website now says there are about 430 private institutions and lists them by name only. The ministry's current list (read on 20 October 2026).
The directory lists the private institutions (IPES) the ministry has authorised to operate, region by region, with the orders that created and opened each one and the programmes it may teach. The 11 state universities come from the ministry's own list; their pages show which private institutions name them as academic supervisor.
The 11 state universities
The ministry's own list. A private institution usually awards licences, bachelor's and master's degrees under a state university's academic supervision; the last column counts the private institutions whose 2022 entry names it.

Private institutions by region
Programmes are listed as the directory groups them: by field (filière) with its specialities, and the diploma the group leads to, in the directory's own wording, French or English. Where a group shows no diploma, the directory prints none beside it. A private institution's licence, bachelor's or master's is usually awarded under the academic supervision (tutelle académique) of a state university or another institution, which the wording names.

What isn't here
Fees are not in the directory: private institutions set their own, so ask each one. No national fee list is published for the state universities either. The University of Buea's fees page (read 21 October 2026) gives 50,000 FCFA a year for Cameroonian undergraduates and leaves the figure for international undergraduates blank; its graduate programmes start at 150,000 FCFA for Cameroonians and 450,000 FCFA for international students.
No enrolment, fees, admission cut-offs or graduate outcomes are published per institution, so this is a directory, not a matcher. State universities' own programmes are not in the directory.
"Opened" is the date of the ministry's opening authorisation (or, where none is printed, the creation agreement). Towns are those named in each entry's address. Names are as the directory prints them, in capitals and with its own spellings, set in upper and lower case by us. Where the heading also names the promoting body or a person, only the institution's name is kept.
