UNAH, the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras, has 32% of all students. The figures are published by the Dirección de Educación Superior, which oversees higher education for the Consejo de Educación Superior and is itself part of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras (UNAH), the largest institution listed here.
Counts are the students enrolled during each year, from university technician to doctorate, as the institutions report them to the Dirección. The Dirección adjusts the records to one definition of a higher-education student (following UNESCO and OEI guidance), so a figure here can differ from an institution's own enrolment count. Every edition from 2018 to 2023 was re-issued in November 2024 on that basis.
What isn't here, and why
The tables cover the institutions that report to the Dirección; no list of all authorised institutions was found as a document, so an institution missing here is not a finding against it. The Dirección publishes students per institution by sex, but no programme lists, fees, admission requirements or outcomes as data. The breakdown by level of study is national only. UNAH's own admission test (now the PHUMA) sets a minimum score per programme, but that is an entry floor, not a cut-off, and is not shown.
