🇬🇷 27 public universities · 2025 entry scores
Every public university in Greece, with the score it took to get in.
Greece admits to every department through one national exam, so each department has a published cut-off. It also keeps a separate quota of places for foreign nationals who finished school abroad, ranked on their school-leaving grade. Both are here, with the Ministry of Education's census of who is enrolled.
Undergraduates, 2023/24
699,803
38% within the standard length of their degree.
Well past the standard length
50%
347,951 students enrolled more than four semesters (six for longer degrees) beyond it.
Foreign-national quota, 2025
7,738
places, of which 3,625 were filled.
Greek universities keep students on the register long after the standard length of their degree. The census counts them in three bands: within the standard length, up to four semesters past it (six for longer degrees), and more than that.
All 27 universities
The census covers Greece's public universities and its two university ecclesiastical academies. Military, police and merchant-navy academies also admit through the Panhellenic exams but are not universities and are not listed.
Medicine: the 2025 cut-off at each school
Panhellenic scores run to 20,000, and above it for departments that also set a special exam — drawing for architecture, a foreign language for language departments, music or sport — so those cut-offs aren't comparable with the rest. The figure shown is the score of the last candidate admitted from general upper secondary schools (ΓΕΛ, day) in 2025: a cut-off set by demand that year, not a fixed entry requirement.
| Department | University | Places | Last admitted |
|---|---|---|---|
| Medicine (Athens) | National and Kapodistrian University of Athens | 140 | 18,775 |
| Medicine (Thessaloniki) | Aristotle University of Thessaloniki | 131 | 18,575 |
| Medicine (Patras) | University of Patras | 136 | 18,445 |
| Medicine (Ioannina) | University of Ioannina | 110 | 18,200 |
| Medicine (Larissa) | University of Thessaly | 76 | 18,100 |
| Medicine (Heraklion) | University of Crete | 93 | 18,050 |
| Medicine (Alexandroupoli) | Democritus University of Thrace | 114 | 17,975 |
Applying from abroad
Greece reserves a separate quota for foreign nationals who completed secondary school abroad (αλλογενείς-αλλοδαποί), split into EU and non-EU places. They are ranked on their school-leaving grade, out of 20 — not on the Panhellenic exams. Where nobody was admitted through a quota in 2025, there is no lowest grade to show.
Every university page lists its departments' EU and non-EU quota places for 2025, how many were filled and the lowest grade admitted. Almost all Greek undergraduate teaching is in Greek. The census lists 2 English-taught undergraduate programmes: Medicine at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and BA in the Archaeology, History and Literature of Ancient Greece at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
English department names are CollegeMatcher's translations of the official Greek names, which are shown alongside.
